Job Description


Business Analyst/Legal Analyst investment management/asset management/regulatory change/legal/Dodd - Frank/Volcker/Edinburgh.

A Business Analyst/Legal Analyst with strong experience in investment management/asset management, regulatory change and legal background (Dodd - Frank/Volcker) is urgently needed to join a leading banking group based in Edinburgh. The Legal Analyst will undertake the necessary steps to ensure compliance with the new FCA handbook that will be published following the FSA split.

The role will involve

  • Provide efficient, effective and competent legal service and support
  • Investment management and advisory agreements
  • Fund structures and documentation
  • Platform and distribution agreements
  • Asset management outsourcing, services and IT/IP agreements
  • Buy-side investment-related agreements and advice
  • Custody agreements
  • Asset management operational activities (eg account opening)
  • Support regulatory projects by acting as the principal legal resource to include understanding and advising on the application of new and complex regulatory provisions to the SWIP business model
  • Effectively manage the performance and cost of external legal advisers
  • Report risks and issues which are identified in the course of duties
  • Adhere to processes and controls for mitigating risk and minimising loss, including Legal Team processes and procedures
  • Adhere to all SWIP/Lloyds Banking Group TSB policies, procedures and guidelines

To apply you must be

  • A Business Analyst with strong legal experience and a strong background in Investment Management/Asset Management and regulatory change.
  • Or a lawyer/Law Analyst with strong analysis in investment management and regulator change
  • The Business Analyst will have experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to elicit business requirements and translate them into "future state" processes that will ensure regulatory compliance against a range of initiatives.

Additionally you must have the following Technical/Legal Skills

  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting fund management companies
  • Familiarity with common fund structures and their legal framework
  • Ability to identify relevant legal issues and devise appropriate legal solutions
  • An understanding of the Dodd-Frank/Volcker reform act preferred but not essential
  • Legal drafting
  • Effective negotiating skills
  • Stakeholders.
