Job Title: Inventory Control Manager

Location: Apapa, Lagos

🎯 Purpose of the Role

The Inventory Control Manager is tasked with a critical oversight function: monitoring inventory control processes as established by management. The role requires the independent appraisal of all control mechanisms within key operational areas, specifically: stores, procurement, production, loading, and packing areas of the organization. This ensures adherence to internal policies and minimizes risks associated with inventory management.


💼 Key Responsibilities (The Job)

The successful Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for a comprehensive range of activities, focusing on operational excellence and compliance:

  • Planning, organizing, and supervising all inventory control operations, while providing rigorous quality assurance on the work executed by the inventory team.
  • Providing leadership and clear direction by effectively communicating and diligently monitoring all inventory control policies and established processes.
  • Executing administrative duties, which include the strategic allocation of staff to various duty posts, the appropriate approval of staff overtime requests, and the timely dissemination of all relevant information to team members.
  • Verifying compliance with all approved operational procedures at crucial control points, including the entry gate, weighbridge, loading bays, and exit gates.
  • Promptly reporting any deficiencies or weaknesses identified in control mechanisms to the line manager and providing appropriate, well-reasoned recommendations for corrective action.
  • Ensuring all materials received by the company strictly conform to established organizational policies and procedures prior to acceptance and storage.
  • Conducting weekly reconciliation of all material movements, which necessitates generating a detailed report on any identified stock shortages or variances.

🎓 Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of formal education, professional certifications, and hands-on experience:

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a B.Sc. / HND in Accounting.
  • ICAN/ACCA certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector and audit experience will be a distinct advantage.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in a similar inventory control or management role.

  • Possess a strong, fundamental understanding of core inventory management principles, effective stock control methodologies, and integrated supply chain processes.
  • Exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for optimizing inventory accuracy and enhancing operational efficiency throughout the chain.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational abilities essential for effectively managing warehouse and logistics personnel and teams.
  • Be proficient in the use of ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning) and specialized inventory management tools for accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of stock levels and movements.
