🛠️ Job Title: Technical Services Manager

Primary Job Purpose

The Technical Services Manager is expected to take the strategic leadership role for the entire Engineering Domain within the Brewery. This role is crucial for leading related Strategic Initiatives across the facility, ensuring comprehensive Corporate Governance for equipment and system integrity. This is achieved through the rigorous application of and strict adherence to all relevant technical Standards and Legislation, safeguarding the brewery's operational excellence.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

The position holder will be responsible for a wide range of functions, driving both technical and personnel excellence:

Technical Leadership and Engineering Management

  • Manages the Plant Asset Care Budget and overall Engineering Finances, ensuring optimal allocation and cost control.
  • Spearheads the establishment and development of a high-level capacitance engineering capability within the site.
  • Leads all engineering projects, focusing on increasing efficiency in project planning and execution, and ensuring strict conformance to all specifications and standards.
  • Oversees the Facilities & Equipment (F&E) function, which encompasses both plant operations and routine maintenance.
  • Leads the development and update of engineering standards through the ZBS (Zero-Based Strategy) Maintenance framework.
  • Leads the maintenance strategy as defined by VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) principles, including optimizing the use of the planned maintenance system and implementing VPO and associated GOP's (Global Operating Practices).
  • Manages small site projects to ensure timely completion within the allocated budget.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Leads the comprehensive risk management program, specifically encompassing occupational health and safety (OHS) and operational risk.
  • Ensures absolute legal compliance in all engineering activities and adherence to local and international legal standards and regulations.
  • Maintains a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment by ensuring compliance with safety, healthy, and environmental legislation.

System Integrity and Standards

  • Manages Site Engineering, which includes oversight of Site Maintenance, Engineering Stores, and the Engineering Procurement process.
  • Ensures the integrity of manufacturing systems and instrumentation by maintaining system integrity, controlling changes, and calibrating site instrumentation.
  • Upholds engineering standards compliance through the consistent application of documented standards.
  • Applies a formal failure analysis process and the relevant engineering spares strategy to minimize downtime and maximize asset reliability.

People Management and Development

  • Leads the engineering team in a manner that cultivates a culture of ownership, empowerment, and strong team interaction.
  • Facilitates effective team problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Leads the development of clear engineering team goals, ensuring they are communicated, understood, and regularly reviewed with team members.
  • Manages Human Resources functions within the team: developing employees, ensuring a healthy industrial relations climate, and applying sound personnel practices.
  • Ensures that training need analyses are regularly conducted, comprehensive training plans are developed, appropriate competencies are built within the team, and essential cross-skilling occurs.

Essential Requirements and Qualifications

Educational and Professional Background

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • A Master of Science (MSc) degree is considered a significant advantage.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience operating at a senior level as a Packaging or Brewing & Utilities Engineer.
