Role Description

The Key Account Manager, Advertising serves as the primary liaison between Jumia’s most strategically important clients and its internal operational teams. This pivotal role is directly responsible for driving significant revenue growth by expertly managing and optimizing strategic advertising campaigns. The individual in this position ensures client satisfaction and campaign effectiveness are consistently maximized through consultative partnership and rigorous performance analysis.


Core Responsibilities

The Key Account Manager's duties encompass a comprehensive range of strategic and operational tasks:

  • Client Relationship Management: They serve as the central point of contact for both internal Key Account Managers (KAMs) and external key clients concerning all facets of Jumia Advertising Solutions (JAS). The manager is expected to develop and nurture robust, enduring relationships with these stakeholders to ensure a continuous, recurring, and expanding advertising business.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting: The manager will rigorously analyze campaign data, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations designed to enhance campaign efficacy and elevate client satisfaction. This includes the preparation of comprehensive campaign reports and performance presentations for both clients and internal senior management.
  • Revenue Optimization: They are tasked with proactively identifying and capitalizing on upselling and cross-selling opportunities within the portfolio of existing key accounts to achieve maximal advertising revenue.
  • Industry Expertise and Guidance: The role requires maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base regarding the latest digital advertising trends, platform advancements, and industry best practices, enabling the delivery of authoritative strategic guidance to clients.
  • Campaign Strategy and Execution: The manager leads the end-to-end campaign planning process for key accounts. This involves receiving detailed briefs from KAMs or clients, formulating sophisticated campaign strategies, and skilfully negotiating critical campaign terms and budgets.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Effective execution necessitates seamless collaboration with various cross-functional teams, including Ad Operations, Creative Services, Analytics, and Sales, to ensure all campaigns are planned, launched, and reported on timely and effectively.
  • Campaign Optimization: The manager will drive superior campaign performance by diligently monitoring and optimizing key performance indicators (KPIs) through daily campaign management and regular strategic alignment sessions with Ad Operations, KAMs, and clients.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this high-impact role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, Commerce, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Professional Experience (Digital): A minimum of 4 years of specialized experience in digital advertising, account management, or online marketing roles.
  • Advanced Campaign Management: Between 6 and 8 years of proven experience managing multi-channel online marketing campaigns, coupled with a deep, practical understanding of marketing KPIs and campaign budget management.
  • Analytical Prowess: Possesses strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to proficiently handle and synthesize large datasets from diverse sources, effectively translating this data into clear, decisive, and actionable business insights.
  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated excellence in relationship management, with significant experience successfully navigating and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders and complex cross-functional teams.
  • E-commerce/Marketplace Knowledge: Experience specifically within e-commerce or marketplace advertising environments is considered a substantial advantage.
  • Technical Advertising Mastery: A deep, comprehensive understanding of digital advertising platforms, various ad formats, and core performance metrics (e.g., CPM, CPC, CTR, ROAS, etc.).
  • Brand Acumen: Sensitivity to Brand DNA and a clear understanding of brand positioning within the competitive landscape.
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant data analysis and business intelligence tools.
